A critical component of any Integrated Pest Management program for insect pests of trees is sampling for their presence and abundance, and deciding if control measures are needed. Information that describes sampling procedures for individual insect pests of trees is often inaccessible and sometimes difficult to understand by the average user. The Internet has provided a means to accomplish the task of bringing together this information, and presenting it in a way that is unambiguous and easy-to-use. This Web site is designed to provide interested users with procedures used to evaluate infestation levels of insect pests of trees in order to make informed decisions on potential control tactics. Currently, this site contains 131 sampling papers on 59 species of forest & shade tree insect pests. See our counts of papers by insect feeding group and species. |
To look up a particular insect, simply click on the category on the left of your screen to which the insect belongs. Within each category you will find a list of insects in the feeding group for which we have compiled reviews of sampling procedures. If you have suggestions for additions of insect pests of forests & shade trees, or have general comments about this site, please send a note to the Webmaster.
